A Typical Session

What happens when you come for a treatment?
  • Pressure is applied using fingers, thumbs, and hands along the body's energy channels known as meridians
  • Shiatsu treatments also involve giving stretches, rotating joints, and holding pressure points
  • There is no undressing. The client wears loose comfortable clothing throughout
  • At the first session a case history is taken
  • The number and frequency of sessions is agreed between the client and practitioner, and reviewed regularly
  • The treatment takes place on a cushioned surface on the floor, and lasts about an hour
  • Shiatsu can also be received sitting in a chair or lying on a couch
