A Typical Session
What happens when you come for a treatment?
- Pressure is applied using fingers, thumbs, and hands along the body's energy channels known as meridians
- Shiatsu treatments also involve giving stretches, rotating joints, and holding pressure points
- There is no undressing. The client wears loose comfortable clothing throughout
- At the first session a case history is taken
- The number and frequency of sessions is agreed between the client and practitioner, and reviewed regularly
- The treatment takes place on a cushioned surface on the floor, and lasts about an hour
- Shiatsu can also be received sitting in a chair or lying on a couch
